The Riviera Maya is set to host the 12th annual Tequila and Mezcal Expo in Playa del Carmen. This event has become a significant cultural, tourist, and commercial hub in the region. From April 4th to 6th, the Fundadores Square will be buzzing with locals and tourists alike, celebrating two of Mexico's most iconic drinks.
Constantino Macris Obregón, the director of Expo Ferias EventoLibra and the event's organizer, has stated that this year's edition will feature around 50 tequila and mezcal brands. There will also be live music and a variety of activities, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere while promoting responsible enjoyment.
The expo will run from 1 pm to 9 pm over the course of three days. In addition to showcasing a variety of beverages, it will also host 20 to 25 tequila and mezcal producers, along with approximately 10 sponsors and other commercial sector companies.
The 2025 Tequila and Mezcal Expo Playa del Carmen aims to offer more than just a cultural experience. Macris Obregón emphasizes that the fair also serves as a platform for job creation, attracting investment, and providing an alternative form of entertainment for visitors.
Macris Obregón also highlighted the challenges currently faced by the tequila industry due to the threat of a 25% tariff imposed by the United States government. He underscored the importance of events like this expo in helping producers diversify their markets and reduce reliance on the American market, particularly in light of these commercial uncertainties.
The 12th Tequila and Mezcal Expo in Playa del Carmen thus offers a unique chance to immerse oneself in agave culture, bolster the local economy, and expand the reach of these iconic beverages to new markets.
