Adrián Pérez Vega, the municipal trustee of Solidaridad, has revealed plans to designate Playa 72 as the official dog beach of Playa del Carmen. The current government, led by Lili Campos, is aiming to establish a new standard in animal protection by opening the municipality's first pet-friendly beach.

Playa 72, situated in the Colosio neighborhood, is currently recognized as an unofficial dog beach. However, Pérez Vega confirmed that the municipality intends to formally establish the beach as a dog-friendly area following the release of new regulations in the Official Gazette of Quintana Roo.

Once these regulations are published, pet owners wishing to visit Playa 72 with their dogs will need to adhere to specific rules. These include ensuring their dogs are dewormed and vaccinated, kept on a leash at all times, and that owners carry bags to pick up after their pets.

The mayor of Solidaridad has stated that the new regulation is designed to safeguard the well-being of both pets and beachgoers. The decision to make Playa 72 a pet-friendly tourist spot was approved during the 68th ordinary session of the Solidaridad Municipal Council on July 19th.

The new rules will mandate that all dogs be kept on a leash. The decision to formally inaugurate the beach as dog-friendly was made in collaboration with local organizations Dog Beach Playa del Carmen and Ciudadanos Animalovers.
