Playa del Carmen has arrived with a bold strategy at the 2025 Tianguis Turístico de México, aiming to capture new markets and reinforce its position as a leading destination in the Mexican Caribbean. The municipality showcased a revamped City Brand, the launch of the mobile app “Let’s Playa,” and a series of themed tourist routes designed to cater to diverse traveler interests.

The delegation, led by Estefanía Hernández, Municipal Tourism Secretary, and Antón Bojórquez Mackay, Secretary of Economic Development and Investment Attraction, was welcomed by Baja California’s Tourism Secretary, Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez. The meeting focused on strengthening ties between destinations and exploring commercial alliances, particularly highlighting products with designation of origin such as Baja California wine and “Hecho en Playa” (Made in Playa) goods.

During the discussions, the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable, innovative tourism model that emphasizes local identity. Playa del Carmen aims to position itself as an evolving destination, prioritizing unique experiences and cultural connections.

Themed Routes for Nature, Art, and Adventure

As part of the Tianguis Turístico, taking place from April 28 to May 1 at the Baja California Center, Playa del Carmen will be featured in the Mexican Caribbean Pavilion alongside other Quintana Roo destinations. The city’s offerings include several specialized routes tailored for conscious and segmented tourism:

  • Sea and Fishing Route
  • Pet-Friendly Route

These curated experiences blend nature, culture, and local flavors, providing visitors with personalized itineraries.

Additionally, the municipal team has scheduled meetings with tour operators, travel agencies, wholesalers, and event organizers to solidify Playa del Carmen’s reputation as a competitive and adaptable destination in the global tourism market.
