The 66 million dollar investment project is in its initial stages with permits being processed.

Private investors in the Riviera Maya are planning on developing the Playa del Secreto area with a 66 million dollar project. The project was submitted for approval  and would create 382 jobs on the construction stages. The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) will have to grant approval to build 433 new hotel rooms north of Playa del Carmen.

The name of the investing corporation is “Operation and Construction of Complementary Works for the Playa del Secreto Hotel & Resort Tourism Development”, who owns the land for this project. The project entails the construction of a tourism and hotel development located on Federal Highway 307, at kilometers 311 + 500.

A large project of this nature is welcomed after such a long pause for the pandemic and the impact it had on investment in the region. Developers need to gather the necessary documents to ensure the environmental authorities that they will follow the guidelines when removing existing plants and trees in adherence to current environmental legislation. There will be  433 hotel rooms added to the existing 540 rooms of the Valentin Imperial hotel that has been operating for more than ten years on a 40 hectare lot.
