Beware: Portuguese Man o’ War Jellyfish Sighted in Playa del Carmen

The local government of Solidaridad, a municipality in Quintana Roo, has issued a public warning about the presence of Portuguese Man o' War Jellyfish in Playa del Carmen.

The Civil Protection, Risk Prevention and Firefighting Department of Solidaridad announced the news on social media. Lifeguards patrolling the beach area between CTM Avenue and 88th Street first spotted the jellyfish.

The department is advising the public to avoid contact with these sea creatures, as they can cause skin injuries. In the event of a sting, it's recommended to wash the affected area with salt water and seek immediate medical attention.
