Solidaridad's commitment to sports promotion is continually reinforced by the presence of influential figures in national sports. On January 29, Prisca Awiti, a silver medalist in judo at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will host a sports camp and discussion at the Domo de la Unidad Deportiva Luis Donaldo Colosio at 5:00 p.m.
Endorsed by the municipal president, Estefanía Mercado, and coordinated by the Municipal Sports Institute, led by Beto López, this event aims to inspire and motivate young people to strive for their Olympic dreams. The initiative is part of their participation in the CONADE National Games.
Prisca Awiti, who made history by winning Mexico's first Olympic medal in judo in the -63 kg category, will be joined by Madison Abimelec Carballo Rodríguez, Christian Jacob Carballo Rodríguez, José Isai Yam May, and Jeanne Alessandra Montes Gómez. These selected citizens of Solidaridad are currently training at the State Center for the 2025 CONADE National Games.
Special guest Jerónimo Abogado, a sailor from Puerto Aventuras, Pan American athlete, and junior world champion, will also be in attendance. Abogado won the Mayan Wind Fest, earning him the opportunity to represent Mexico in the Juvenile Pan American in Asunción 2025.
Prisca Awiti, originally from Guanajuato, is not only a leading figure in her discipline but also the recipient of the 2024 National Sports Award by the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Conade). This recognition underscores her significant contribution to Mexican sports. "Through events like this camp and discussion, Solidaridad reaffirms its commitment to promoting sports development and creating spaces that connect young people with elite athletes, inspiring them to work towards their Olympic dreams," said Beto López, director of the Municipal Sports Institute.
