The General Director of the Mayan Train, Óscar David Lozano Águila, has confirmed that a multimodal terminal is set to open in Progreso in 2025. This new development will feature a railway bypass and fuel loading terminals.

Lozano Águila stated, "By 2025, our cargo infrastructure will include a multimodal terminal in Progreso, a railway bypass from the operations center in Poxilá to the port, and fuel loading docks at the storage and dispatch terminal in the Solidaridad municipality."

This new terminal is part of Segment 3 of the Mayan Train, a section that traverses Yucatán and has already transported 73,143 passengers. Lozano Águila was keen to point out that Segment 3 has created over 35,000 jobs, with 80% of these roles filled by local workers.

Segment 3, which spans 160 kilometers and passes through 15 municipalities in Campeche and Yucatán, has been used by 26.4% of all Mayan Train passengers. Demand for this segment has been high, with over 3,000 passengers in just the last week. As a result, the number of services will be increased to accommodate the growing demand.

Overall, the Mayan Train has transported 276,825 passengers so far, with Segment 3 playing a significant role in this achievement.
