Breakthrough in Murder Case of Batun Campaign Coordinator

The murder investigation of Manuel Santiago, the campaign coordinator for deputy candidate Alberto Batun Chuli, is making headway, according to the General Prosecutor's Office of the State. The office revealed that the primary line of investigation suggests the motive may be personal revenge.

Following the crime, which took place in the Supermanzana 519 area, investigators collected evidence, including six shell casings and a 9-millimeter bullet. These types of bullets are exclusively used by the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The fatal incident occurred outside Santiago's residence, located in Supermanzana 519, in the municipality of Benito Juárez. Witnesses reported that two individuals exited a taxi, and one proceeded to shoot Santiago multiple times, leading to his death in the hospital from injuries to his chest, abdomen, right thigh, and forearm.

The prosecutor's office has ruled out any connection between the murder and the current electoral process. All collected evidence has been handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in the ongoing investigation.

The investigation continues with the aim of bringing the perpetrators to justice, incorporating witness testimonies and other collected statements into the case file.
