In Citilcum, Izamal, a meeting was held on Friday to address the recent blockade of the Maya Train's railways by local residents. The blockade, which involved the use of logs, stones, pipes, and planks, was lifted at 3 a.m.

Local parents, who had requested the meeting, appealed to Juan Cristóbal Orozco, a representative of the federal Secretariat of the Interior in Yucatán. Their primary concern was the relocation of the "Benito Juárez García" and "Manuel Rodríguez Acosta" schools, which operate in the morning and evening. This issue took precedence over the previously planned depressed passage set to be delivered on Monday, the 20th.

In attendance at the meeting were generals David Lozano Águila, General Director of the Maya Train, Ricardo Flores González, commander of the X military zone, Jorge Martínez Medina, commander of the XXXII military zone, and Ramón Guardado Sánchez, director of the national guard in the state of Yucatán. They engaged in discussions with Liza Ek Uitz, a representative of the Citilcum inhabitants.

The meeting concluded with an agreement that Guillermina Saraí Ek, a local resident, would donate a property to facilitate the necessary procedures. Israel May Mex, the director of the Municipal Land Registry, and Mario Alberto Paredes León, a representative of the Federal Department of Public Education, both pledged their full support for this initiative.

A follow-up meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 6, to provide more details about the agreements. Lozano Águila will personally propose these details to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Among the requests to be addressed before the next meeting is the need for lighting on the bridge connecting the communities of Citilcúm and Kimbilá, and the completion of a pedestrian crossing. Other requests include a temporary school bus or transport for students, and increased security to monitor the students' entrance and exit times.

The agreement to reconvene was signed at 2:17 p.m. by General Lozano Águila. The meeting was particularly timely, as Lozano Águila is due to visit Yucatán on Sunday for a Maya Train supervision work tour. The meeting aimed to prevent any further disruption to the Izamal route.
