Hundreds of Puerto Aventuras residents participated in the fourth "Citizen Dialogues" event to help shape the Municipal Development Plan (PMD) for 2024-2027. The event took place on November 15, 2024, in Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo. Municipal President Estefanía Mercado led the gathering, which was guided by the principles of Inclusive Government, Shared Prosperity, Recovering Peace, and Urban Transformation.
The meeting, held in the town's multi-use dome, saw the participation of over 500 citizens. They voiced their needs and demands in areas such as health, education, sports, culture, and public area maintenance. These concerns will be incorporated into the governing instrument of the current administration.
Mercado emphasized the importance of these democratic exercises, stating that they aim to return power to the people by giving a voice to those who have never had one. She reassured the attendees that their concerns were being noted and would be addressed in the Municipal Development Plan.
Gilberto Gómez Martínez, mayor of Puerto Aventuras, expressed his gratitude to Mercado for her visit and reiterated his commitment to listen to and involve citizens in government plans and projects.
The forum saw the participation of 17 sectoral subcommittees from the Planning Committee for the development of the Municipality (Coplademun) of Solidaridad. Councilors and heads of the municipal cabinet's secretariats and departments also attended.
The fifth and final "Citizen Dialogue", titled "Urban Transformation and Environment", is scheduled for November 15, at the Plaza 28 de Julio, starting at 5:00 pm.
