Fishermen from Puerto Juárez have staged a protest by blocking a lane on José López Portillo Avenue. The demonstration is in response to attempts to evict them from the lands they have occupied for over 30 years. These fishermen also provide tourism services in the area.

The protest was triggered when a group of individuals claimed ownership of the lands and issued a 15-day eviction notice to the fishermen. The community of nearly 200 fishermen and their families have relied on fishing in Playa del Niño for their livelihood for more than three decades. While they are willing to vacate the lands if necessary, they have requested suitable relocation options.

Due to the lack of response from local authorities, the fishermen resorted to blocking the road, prompting the intervention of the municipality's Secretary, Antonio Riverol. Negotiations have now begun in an attempt to resolve the situation and find a solution that satisfies both parties. The fishermen are concerned about losing their source of income and being unable to provide for their families.

The protest disrupted traffic from Bonampak Avenue, forcing tourists heading to Puerto Juárez to navigate around the fishermen's blockade.
