Around 200 senior citizens and individuals with disabilities attended the "Embracing Hearts" Comprehensive Services Fair in Leona Vicario. The event, which included a pantry distribution, was organized by the Integral Family Development System (DIF) of Puerto Morelos and the Karisma Foundation at the Cenote Dome.
Representing the municipal president, Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the general secretary of the City Hall, José de Jesús Espinosa Payán, expressed gratitude to the organizations that contribute to the welfare of families and the community. He specifically acknowledged the Karisma Foundation for its efforts in building a better future for everyone.
Espinosa Payán described the event as a platform for interaction, information sharing, and connection between the City Hall and the community. He emphasized the importance of strengthening societal ties and improving the quality of life for every individual.
The City Hall, according to Espinosa Payán, is committed to implementing public policies that ensure a decent and healthy life for all families. It also provides resources and tools to help them navigate everyday challenges.
The official highlighted the collaboration between the City Hall and the Karisma Foundation in offering a wide range of services and opportunities to all families. He stated, "It's a testament to what we can achieve when we work together."
Isabel Arroyo, manager of Karisma, echoed this sentiment, stating that the organization shares the City Hall's commitment to community health. She encouraged the community to attend the Services Fair every month to take advantage of the services offered.
At the event, various modules were set up for glucose, blood pressure, weight, and height measurements; medicine distribution; document reception for cataract, hernia, cleft lip and palate surgeries; social work; nutrition; psychological care; and pantry requests for seniors and people with disabilities from the Food Assistance Program for Priority Attention People.
Also present at the event were delegate Elsy Benítez Arzápalo, the director of the municipal DIF Vanessa López Páez, and the coordinator of the institution in Leona Vicario, Karla Beatriz Castillo Benítez.
