Municipal officials have stopped the destructive clearing of a large green area near the Cancún-Playa del Carmen highway, at the entrance to Puerto Morelos. The machinery being used for this work was shut down yesterday morning, following a public complaint about the damage being done to the local vegetation.

Members of the Supermanzana 50 community have called for repairs to Lol-Tun street in Cancún, highlighting the community's concerns about the condition of the local green spaces. Environmental and ecological groups have criticized the lack of proper environmental impact assessments for projects like this, which they say put the local ecosystem in danger.

The machinery was shut down in response to the public complaint, showing the community's vigilance and active involvement in protecting the natural environment. Municipal officials continue to oversee the situation and are expected to take steps to prevent future harm to the green spaces in Puerto Morelos.
