The Puerto Morelos Municipality, the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development, and the State's Environmental Protection Prosecutor's Office have launched a joint initiative. The goal is to bring legal certainty to property owners and maintain orderliness of their lands along the Cenotes Route.

The municipal president, Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, spearheaded a crucial meeting with state agencies to kick-start the property regularization process. "Our aim is to give legal certainty to the owners of plots along our beautiful Cenotes Route. We want to grow orderly and adhere to the guidelines of the State's Urban Development, Ecology, and Environment laws, as well as the municipality's regulations. This is crucial in protecting our environment, which is a unique tourist attraction," she explained.

The meeting took place at the Municipal Palace and included key figures such as Miriam Madero Gómez, Undersecretary of Territorial Planning of the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus), Alfonso Fernández Lemmen, Prosecutor for Environmental Protection of the State, Rolando Melo Novelo, the municipal secretary of Urban Development and Territorial Planning, and the head of Ecology, Environment, and Mobility.
