Caribbean Ultimate Frisbee Tournament Hits Puerto Morelos!

Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, February 1, 2025 – Puerto Morelos is embracing its role as a hub for sports and physical activity. This is part of the city's strategic plan, led by Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, to promote healthy community engagement. This sentiment was echoed by Municipal Secretary General, José de Jesús Espinosa Payán, during the opening of the "Abierto MX Ultimate Caribe Beach Frisbee" tournament.

The city's internal policy manager, representing Mayor Muñoz, wished competitors good luck and emphasized that such events boost tourism and stimulate the local economy. The Secretary of Sustainable Tourism, Raúl Guadarrama García, further highlighted that Puerto Morelos provides an ideal setting for various sports disciplines. The city already hosts an international volleyball tournament and an open-water marathon, among other sports events.

The frisbee tournament's kick-off was attended by Maria del Carmen Garcia Rivas, the director of the Puerto Morelos Reef Marine Park, and Renán Cruz Ramírez, the director of the Municipal Institute of Sports. The 4v4 teams participating include Turix and Thunders from Mérida, Alux from Cancun, and Barracudas Blue and Yellow from Playa del Carmen.

The tournament will continue this Sunday, starting at 8 a.m., with elimination rounds leading up to the semifinals and final of this exciting sports event.
