A native of Queretaro, Marco Antonio Meléndez Hernández, has claimed the top spot at the Oceanman Mexico 2024. This open water competition, held in Cozumel, saw Meléndez Hernández deliver an impressive performance, securing him first place in the 10-kilometer race.
Meléndez Hernández completed the race in just 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 43.09 seconds. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the high caliber of athletes who attended the competition. Despite the stiff competition, Meléndez Hernández managed to secure his place at the top of the podium.
Currently, Meléndez Hernández is preparing for the "World Aquatics Jr Open Water Swimming Championships 2024" to be held in Italy. He is aiming to replicate his recent success and secure another top spot. To achieve this, he is focusing on improving his times by participating in various pre-championships.
Meléndez Hernández is no stranger to open water competitions. He has previously participated in events such as the Junior World Championship in Seychelles and the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championship (CCCAN) of 2023. He also delivered a standout performance at the Acapulco National Selection 2023.
As he continues his preparation for the upcoming competition in Italy, Meléndez Hernández is aware of the high level of competition he will face.
