CANCÚN, MX – Governor Mara Lezama recently spoke at the "Prosperous, Inclusive, and Sustainable Mexico" Forum, emphasizing the importance of planning in governance and the need to deliver results to the people. The forum was part of the Federal Government's National Development Plan for 2025-2030.
Governor Lezama, along with Federal Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, attended the tourism forum in Cancún. Lezama stated that these forums provide an excellent opportunity for experts to come together, share insights, and discuss strategies for maintaining sustainable tourism. She also highlighted that if Quintana Roo were a country, it would be among the 15 most visited in the world.
Quintana Roo's significant contribution to Mexican tourism is evident in its impressive figures. In 2024, the region brought in over $20 billion, attracted more than 21 million tourists, handled over 32 million passengers, and offered more than 135,000 hotel rooms. Secretary Rodríguez Zamora praised Quintana Roo as a national model for community tourism and shared prosperity. She expressed confidence in the region's potential to help Mexico become the fifth most visited country in the world.
Quintana Roo is one of two states in Mexico chosen to host a thematic forum on tourism, reflecting the industry's importance to the region's economic and social development.
The "Prosperous, Inclusive, and Sustainable Mexico" Forum is part of a series of national consultation forums. It aims to gather proposals, analyze trends, and build a shared vision for the public policies that will shape Mexico's future over the next five years. The forum offers a unique opportunity for dialogue and collaboration, with a particular focus on tourism, a sector that plays a crucial role in Quintana Roo's growth. Governor Lezama, known for her humanist and feminist approach, has positioned Quintana Roo as a key player in both national and international tourism.
