Don’t Miss Out! Quintana Roo Candidate Debate Schedule Revealed

The Quintana Roo Electoral Institute (IEQROO) has announced the dates and venues for the upcoming municipal presidency debates. This marks a significant step in the electoral process, providing a platform for candidates to present their proposals and discuss public interest issues. The debates will feature limited moderation, allowing each candidate's ideas and vision to be expressed clearly and directly.

The objective is to encourage an open and transparent exchange of ideas, giving the public the chance to fairly assess each candidate. The debates will be held in two of Quintana Roo's major cities, Cancun and Chetumal. In Cancun, the debates will take place at the National Museum of the Chronicle, located at Av. Yachilán No.21. The schedule for each municipality is as follows:

  • Cozumel: May 24, 9 PM.
  • Benito Juarez: May 23, 9 PM.
  • Solidaridad: May 23, 5 PM.
  • Puerto Morelos: May 24, 7 PM.

In Chetumal, the state capital, debates will be held at Studio No.1 of the Quintana Roo Social Communication System (SQCS), located at Av. Hidalgo. The schedule for these municipalities is:

  • Felipe Carrillo Puerto: May 15, 9 PM.
  • Bacalar: May 18, 7 PM.
  • Othón P. Blanco: May 17, 9 PM.
  • José Maria Morelos: May 17, 7 PM.

These debates offer candidates a valuable opportunity to present their proposals and visions ahead of the elections. They will address key issues for the development and well-being of Quintana Roo, helping citizens make informed decisions. IEQROO encourages citizens to participate in these debates, either by attending or following them through the media.

It's important to note that there will be no debates in the municipalities of Isla Mujeres and Tulum, as only one request was made to hold these debates, and not by the candidates seeking re-election. In the case of the municipal presidents seeking re-election, José Alfredo Contreras Mendez, who is running with the "Let's keep making history in Quintana Roo" coalition, was the only one who did not request a debate, unlike his rivals from the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), More Social Support (MAS), Citizen Movement (MC) and the "Strength and Heart for Quintana Roo" alliance Tania Casa Madrid.
