Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa proudly announced that 2024 has been a landmark year for sports in Quintana Roo. The state's athletes have achieved remarkable success at the recent CONADE Nationals, earning the admiration and pride of their fellow residents.
Quintana Roo's athletes won a total of 267 medals at the CONADE Nationals, setting a new record. This surpasses the previous record of 254 medals won in 2023.
In addition to this achievement, the athletes also set a new record by winning 79 gold medals, outdoing the previous record of 68 set in 2019. "Quintana Roo is home to exceptional athletes," said Governor Lezama. She also noted that the state continues to hold its sixth-place national ranking.
Governor Lezama extended her congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and everyone involved in the sporting community. She praised their commitment, dedication, and love for Quintana Roo, emphasizing the vital role of sports in fostering peace.
The state's delegation of over 600 athletes received support from the State Government through the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop. This is part of the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development, ensuring that no one is left out or left behind.
