Quintana Roo Chefs Bring Mexican Flavors to Canada!

Three gourmet dishes displayed side by side: a creamy dessert topped with cookie crumbles, a crispy sesame-coated appetizer on a bed of spinach, and a colorful heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella and a drizzle of dressing.

Chefs from Quintana Roo, Mexico, are set to promote their local cuisine in Canada. The initiative aims to attract more Canadian tourists to the Mexican Caribbean. The Chefs Collective for Quintana Roo will lead this culinary mission as part of the Flavors of Mexico Festival.

Luis Sánchez, Vice President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) in Puerto Morelos, revealed that three chefs will participate in this inaugural mission to Canada. Their goal is to highlight Puerto Morelos, a popular destination for Canadian travelers.

The event will take place from September 8 to 18, starting with a meeting with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Toronto. Here, the chefs will network with 60 representatives and present their culinary creations, all made with local ingredients.

The team will then head to Montreal for a dinner at the General Consulate. This event will host 100 attendees, both Canadians and Mexicans. "We will have networking meetings, aiming to establish commercial ties and promote Quintana Roo," Sánchez explained.

This tour holds significant importance for Puerto Morelos, as Canadian tourism picks up from the end of October and extends until February. Sánchez stressed the importance of capitalizing on this period following the low season, which typically sees a decrease in occupancy and visitor numbers. The goal is to boost tourism in the coming months.
