The Quintana Roo Par swimming team added eight more medals to their tally in the semi-finals, breaking their previous record at the Paranationals CONADE. After three days of rigorous competition at the newly refurbished Aquatic Center in Tlaxcala, the team's total medal count reached 11.
Supported by the Quintana Roo Sports Commission (CODEQ), led by Jacobo Arzate Hop, the athletes added to their medal collection at this significant adaptive sporting event. This achievement underscores the success of the New Agreement for Welfare and Development, a program championed by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa.
In the final rounds, Chetumal native Shaday Hoil Matos secured two silver medals in the 50 meters Freestyle and 100 meters Freestyle events. This was her first time participating in these national competitions under the guidance of Professor Manuel López Gasajas.
Carolina de Iturbide Aguirre, a Cozumel-born athlete, also made it to the podium, earning two silver medals in the 50 meters Backstroke and 50 meters Butterfly events.
Solidaridad representative Goretti Sosa Gamboa made a triumphant return to competition after an injury hiatus, winning two silver medals in the 50 meters Breaststroke and 100 meters Breaststroke events. Under the direction of Professor Yareli Guillén, Gamboa also won her 11th medal at the CONADE Nationals.
Daniela Sánchez Ruiz, a swimmer from Cancun, added two more medals to the team's haul. She won a silver medal in the 50 meters Butterfly and a bronze in the 50 meters Freestyle in the SB6 category. This was her first time competing in these national competitions, under the guidance of Professor Carlos Llanes at the Cancun Olympic Pool.
The Quintana Roo team concluded the event with ten silver medals and one bronze, surpassing their 2023 total of seven medals. In the current competition, Quintana Roo has won a total of 24 medals, including four golds, 15 silvers, and five bronzes.
