Quintana Roo, a popular tourist destination known for its rich culture, stunning landscapes, and unique traditions, faces a significant issue – ensuring all its residents have access to food. According to the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (Coneval), 10.6% of Quintana Roo's population lives in extreme poverty. To address this, Governor Mara Lezama recently initiated the "We All Eat" program, aiming to provide food pantries to over 55,000 people across the state.

The program's food pantry deliveries are scheduled to continue through October 21st and conclude on November 15th. The initiative will cover several municipalities, including Isla Mujeres, Othón P. Blanco, Puerto Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, Tulum, Benito Juárez, Cozumel, José María Morelos, Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Solidaridad.

Beneficiaries of the "We All Eat" program in these municipalities can collect their food aid between 9 AM and 6 PM on their allocated date. They must bring the following documents:

  • Proof of beneficiary status or a copy of their CURP
  • A valid photo ID
  • A physical "We All Eat" Card

The Quintana Roo Welfare Secretary has emphasized that this process is unique and non-transferable. It's up to each beneficiary to ensure they arrive on time at the designated location for aid collection.

Governor Mara Lezama has underscored that the "We All Eat" program's primary objective is to provide food to those Quintana Roo residents who need it most, as access to food is a fundamental human right. She further noted that the funds used to supply the food pantries are sourced from efforts to combat the corruption that has plagued Quintana Roo for years. To facilitate the distribution of food aid across the state, the Food Security Agency has opened four delivery centers in Noh-Bec, Blanca Flor, Altos, and Ucum, located in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bacalar, and Othón P. Blanco respectively.
