Tulum Voted Best Beach Destination in Mexico & Central America

Tulum, a thriving tourist hotspot in the Mexican Caribbean, has attracted over half a million visitors. Its appeal lies not only in its air connectivity but also in its renowned beaches and golf courses. Recently, Tulum was nominated for having Mexico's best golf course and was also crowned the best beach destination nationwide and in Central America. These accolades were announced via social media by Bernardo Cueto, who stated that the World Golf Awards 2024 nominated the golf course, while the World Travel Awards 2024 named Tulum the best beach destination, a title it has won six times.

Andrés Martínez Reynoso, director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), expressed his delight at these recognitions, stating that they ensure Quintana Roo remains a top choice for tourists and put Tulum on the global map. He emphasized that the region's primary appeal is its sun and beach, which is why Tulum's success and its golf courses provide yet another reason for tourists to visit.

The tourism-focused World Travel Awards (WTA) recently announced the winners of its 2024 awards for Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Americas. Diego Castañón, Tulum's president, dedicated the award to the entire destination. Now, all eyes are on the Tulum Country Club, which is in the running for "Mexico's Best Golf Course 2024" in the prestigious World Golf Awards™️. Tulum's popularity is growing, particularly among international tourists, with over 240 flights arriving weekly. With over 130,000 rooms and a range of tourist attractions, Quintana Roo is becoming one of the world's most competitive tourist destinations.

Tulum is also experiencing a surge in air connectivity. Currently, six international airlines operate from Tulum airport, which accommodates 0.5% of the foreign market and is among the top 10 Mexican airports for international passenger traffic. These airlines include American, Delta, United, Air Canada, Jetblue, and Copa, connecting Tulum to nine US routes, six domestic routes, two Canadian and Panamanian routes, and soon, a Lufthansa/Discovery route. Domestic operations are handled by Aeroméxico, Volaris, Mexicana, and Viva Aerobus. Increasing flight frequencies and establishing reliable routes are key to boosting tourism, without neglecting other airports, according to Martinez.
