Gunfire Shatters Peace in San Miguel Colony!

Early Monday morning, the peaceful atmosphere of San Miguel Colony in Cozumel was shattered by the sound of at least 10 gunshots. Reports from the scene suggest that between seven and ten shots were fired. Local residents, who were alerted by the noise, attempted to identify any suspicious activity or individuals from their windows, but no moving vehicles were observed.

The first responders were Navy agents, who were joined by municipal preventive officers and a National Guard unit. They processed the scene and searched for evidence. Despite approaching local residents for information, most were unwilling to assist. A few reported that they had been inside their homes when they heard approximately 10 shots.

The Navy and National Guard, along with the Investigation Police (PDI), discovered nine spent shell casings on the pavement. These were collected by the Forensic Services team from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) for further analysis.

San Miguel Colony is one of the five most violent areas on the island, and its residents are calling on authorities to take preventative measures and act swiftly against criminals. They also urged the personnel of the C2 and C5 surveillance systems to monitor their cameras closely in order to identify the suspected gunmen.
