A severe road accident in Riviera Maya has resulted in at least ten injuries. The incident involved a staff transportation bus from Transportes Del Valle company and a trailer. The collision occurred on the highway stretch between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen, near the Vidanta hotel. Several of the injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition.
The bus is reported to have collided violently with the rear of the trailer on its left side. The exact cause of the accident is still unclear, but preliminary reports suggest that the bus driver may have lost control of the vehicle, leading to the high-speed collision.
At the time of the collision, several passengers were trapped within the wreckage of the bus. Most of the passengers are believed to be employees of a local lodging center in Riviera Maya.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after the accident, and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. They undertook complex maneuvers to free the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals. Several private ambulances also arrived at the scene, with paramedics attending to the injured and facilitating their transport to local hospitals.
Local authorities have not yet confirmed if there have been any fatalities, and the total number of injured individuals has not been specified. A more detailed report is expected in the coming hours.
The incident has caused concern among local tourists and drivers, who observed the rescue operations from a distance. The rescue efforts also resulted in significant traffic congestion in the area.
