Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Rotary Club Cancún Conmemorativo is organizing the fourth edition of the "Kilometer of the Toy" event, scheduled for Sunday, April 27, inside a shopping plaza located in Super Manzana 507.

Toy Drive to Benefit Children in Francisco May Neighborhood

During a press conference, Jesús Ordaz, President of the Rotary Club Cancún Conmemorativo, explained that the toy collection will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gran Plaza. All donated toys will be distributed to children in the Francisco May neighborhood.

The goal is to collect 400 toys, which will be given to children on April 30, 2025, to celebrate Children’s Day. Ordaz emphasized that donations should preferably be new toys, battery-operated, and in perfect condition, suitable for children aged 0 to 14. Other essential items will also be accepted.

Karen Reyes, the plaza’s administrator, stated that businesses within the shopping center have been invited to participate in the initiative.

Promoting Childhood Joy and Social Interaction

Jesús Ordaz highlighted the importance of fostering childhood experiences through play. "With these actions, we hope more children can enjoy their day in this vital stage of life. We want to encourage interaction among kids through games and reduce their reliance on devices that isolate them in a solitary world," he said.

Also present at the press conference were Eugenia Solís, President-Elect for 2025-2026; Madaly Romero Ongay, Secretary of the Rotary Club Cancún Conmemorativo; and Edna Salas, a member of the club.

The event aims to bring joy to underprivileged children while promoting community solidarity.
