Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside to Host Halloween Pet Parade and Costume Contest to Support END POLIO NOW
Playa del Carmen, October 16, 2024 – The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen Seaside invites the community and their furry friends to the 3rd Annual Halloween “Yappy Hour” Dog Parade and Costume Contest, taking place at Central Park Plaza in Puerto Aventuras on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 3 PM.
This family-friendly event welcomes dogs and handlers of all ages to participate in a fun-filled afternoon of costumes, contests, and community spirit. Funds raised from ticket sales will go to support END POLIO NOW and Rotary’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.
Event Highlights
- A costume contest with categories including:
- Best Senior Dog (age 7+)
- Best Young Dog (under 1 year)
- Prettiest Dog
- Most Handsome Dog
- Spookiest Dog
- Best Large Breed
- Best Medium-Sized Dog
- Best Small Breed
- Best Rescue Dog
- Top Yapper (Judges’ Choice)
- Registration begins on the day of the event, managed by Seaside Rotary volunteers.
- Entry fee is 200 pesos per dog per category, with participants welcome to enter their pets into as many categories as they like.
Top Yapper 2024
Participants and spectators will vote for “Top Yapper 2024,” with each vote costing 50 pesos. You can cast as many votes as you wish to support your favorite dog. The dog crowned “Top Yapper” will receive a special ribbon, and the handler will take home the Grand Prize (to be announced soon).
Prizes for all category winners are generously donated by local businesses in Puerto Aventuras.
Supporting a Great Cause
All funds raised through registration and voting will go directly to Rotary’s END POLIO NOW campaign. Rotary has been a global leader in the fight to eradicate polio for over 35 years, reducing cases worldwide by 99.9%.
To date, Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.
