Playa del Carmen, Q. Roo.- The Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen recently raised 63,200 pesos through a heart sale fundraiser. The funds will provide 25 individuals with free eye prostheses, according to the club's president, Abril López Pariente.

Pariente expressed hopes to expand the program's reach, aiming to increase the number of recipients to 50 or even 100 individuals. The next fundraising campaign is set to commence in February.

She also highlighted the significant impact of the initiative on beneficiaries' families. Private sector aesthetic eye prostheses can cost between 20,000 to 25,000 pesos, excluding the additional expenses of medical consultations and specialist appointments. This program alleviates these financial burdens, making a substantial difference in the lives of those affected.
