Ruben Carrillo, the General Secretary of the Cancun Taxi Union, has called for an official investigation into recent attacks on Uber drivers. These attacks are believed to have been carried out by members of the taxi union. Carrillo has stated that the union does not condone such behavior and is keen to determine whether its members are indeed responsible.
The union is maintaining vigilance to prevent further conflicts. They are also focused on improving their services. This includes the recent launch of their own digital transportation app, OlaTaxi, which aims to provide superior service to its users.
This call for action follows a plea from Uber representatives in Cancun. They have asked authorities to intervene to prevent further attacks from taxi drivers. There are several recorded incidents of taxi union members attacking Uber vehicles, putting the safety of drivers and passengers at risk.
