A 15-year-old girl from Solidaridad was recently discovered in Cancún, specifically in the Supermanzana 258 area. Her disappearance had previously led to the issuance of an Amber alert.

The teenager was found after she approached a 42-year-old woman at the Cancún-Playa del Carmen public transportation base, seeking help as she had nowhere else to go. She revealed that she had fled her home in Puerto Aventuras on November 2nd to escape the physical abuse she was enduring from her stepfather and mother.

The stepfather had been preventing her from pursuing education and work, while her mother was also physically abusive. Recognizing the girl from the missing persons alert, the woman decided to protect her and promptly contacted the authorities.

The local security department took the teenager to the Missing Persons Attention Unit of the state attorney general's office. From there, she was transferred to the Prosecutor's Office for the Defense of Children and Adolescents, where she will remain under temporary custody.
