In Cozumel, Q. Roo, locals and visitors alike were treated to a night of laughter and entertainment at the regional comedy show, featuring the talented Ruperta Pérez Sosa. Known for her roles as an actress, comedian, and even a corn vendor, Sosa, along with her "cousin" Soco, brought an infectious joy to the Fairgrounds during the fourth evening of the traditional "El Cedral 2024" festival.
Sosa, originally from Uayma, Yucatan, had the audience in stitches with her regional-style humor. Her comedy sketches, filled with songs and dances, often involved interaction with the audience, who remained fully engaged throughout the show.
During her performance, Sosa, also known as "La Chini," expressed her admiration for the island's beauty and the lively Cozumeleño audience, who she described as "the most spirited crowd I have ever performed for."
The festival, held in honor of the Holy Cross of Sabán, also featured a performance by the band "Barefoot" from the neighboring island of Holbox, Quintana Roo. Playing a mix of reggae music and cumbias, the band kept the audience dancing from dusk till dawn, adding to the festive atmosphere of the Wednesday night event.
