Sailboat Runs Aground on Puerto Aventuras Reef

A sailboat ran aground on Wednesday morning in an area close to the Marina of Puerto Aventuras.

The captain, Manuel, was unable to maneuver the vessel away from the area, due to strong winds and waves. Other local Captains quickly rushed to help him when it was clear that he was running aground.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident to see if it was in fact the bad weather that caused the sailboat to run aground. The Port Authority was alerted of the incident and immediately they went to the site to assist and investigate. No injuries were reported.
