There has been a notable increase in sargassum seaweed at Solidaridad county's beaches recently. However, local authorities have been able to keep the situation under control by regularly clearing the large seaweed deposits.
Adrián Medina, the head of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone in Solidaridad, has provided some insights. He noted that while some beaches are experiencing a significant buildup of sargassum, others are currently free of the marine algae.
In response to this issue, the municipal government has introduced a 'sargasometer'. This tool provides regular updates on the state of the beaches in Solidaridad. It highlights which beaches are suitable for visitors and which ones are dealing with a high accumulation of seaweed.
The 'sargasometer' is a valuable resource for swimmers and beach-goers, offering them real-time information on the presence of sargassum at various beach locations.
