The municipal government of Isla Mujeres recently hosted the Eighth State Sea Turtle Week. This event was organized in partnership with the Department of Environment and Ecology and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of Quintana Roo. One of the highlights of the week was a talk titled "Sea Turtles of my Island," which took place at Tláloc kindergarten.
The Isla Mujeres government is committed to fostering an understanding and appreciation of the environment from an early age. They believe that the children of today will be the ones responsible for creating a better future for the municipality. This is why the talk was aimed at educating the kindergarten students about the importance of caring for and conserving sea turtles, a species that is critical to the island.
In addition to discussing the protection of sea turtles, the authorities also emphasized the importance of preserving the island's natural resources and environment. They highlighted that the beauty and richness of these resources is a major draw for tourists each year. Therefore, it is crucial for the island's future generations to understand and respect their role in maintaining this natural wealth.
