A 58-year-old American resident of the Zazil-Ha neighborhood in Playa del Carmen has been confirmed as the second case of monkeypox in the city. The man, known as Vogel, was discovered at the intersection of 10th and 38th avenues, showing signs of dehydration and fever.

Red Cross paramedics arrived on the scene to administer first aid and noticed that Vogel was displaying body rashes, a symptom typical of monkeypox. He was immediately transported to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen for further medical care.

Although unofficial sources suggest that Vogel is no longer in a contagious state after being ill for several days, his case has sparked concern among health authorities and the local community. They remain vigilant for the potential of new infections.

This marks the second case of monkeypox in Playa del Carmen in less than a week. The first case involved a 28-year-old Argentine resident, known as Fabián, who was diagnosed at the same hospital last Thursday.
