“Quintana Roo Sailors Set to Dominate North American Championship!”

The Mexican Sailing Federation has announced the 16-person team set to represent Mexico in the upcoming North American Optimist Championship in Puerto Rico. Notably, seven of these team members hail from Quintana Roo.

These sailors have been making waves in the sport, recently securing victory at the 2024 CONADE National Games' Absolute Championship. This achievement underscores the exceptional talent and skill of these athletes.

The team members from Quintana Roo include Mía Acuña, Sebastián Lawrence, María José Tovar, and Eloísa Padilla, all from the Puerto Aventuras Club. Luana Borrego and Salma Borrego from Bacalar, as well as Otto Yago Carre from Cancún, will also be competing.

The North American Championship, which brings together the top Optimist class sailors from across the continent, will feature three daily races until the winners are determined.

Currently, the Mexican team is in Puerto Rico preparing for the competition. They are eager to set sail and navigate the challenging waters in their quest for the championship title.
