The Council of Chambers and Business Associations of the State of Mexico (Concaem) and the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council recently held their inaugural "Meeting of Good Business Practices and Safety". The meeting was attended by business leaders from both regions, along with representatives from various government departments such as Security, Finance, Health, Environment, and Tourism.
The goal of the meeting was to strengthen relationships and share successful business models between the two entities. One such example highlighted was the trust funds implemented in the Caribbean. These funds allocate resources to priority areas, leading to improvements in infrastructure and services.
The Caribbean region, known as Quintana Roo, operates four such trusts. These range from developing tourism services and promotion, to environmental care and improving living and working conditions for police forces. This model is something that the State of Mexico is keen to replicate, with resources provided being earmarked and overseen by society, resulting in increased efficiency.
The meeting also presented successful practices in community involvement in public projects. Examples included the impact on freight transportation from the Mayan Train project, the operations of 11 tourist brands to boost their different regions and service potential, and the "Citizens with and without a position" initiative. This initiative encourages citizen participation in the creation of social projects.
Eduardo Martínez González, Chairman of the Caribbean Business Coordination Council, praised the willingness of the Mexican business community to form alliances and expand business opportunities between the two regions. He noted the outstanding experience of private initiatives in Mexico, particularly the State of Mexico's industrial conditions, developed over decades.
The meeting was attended by heads of various organizations, including Coparmex, Canirac, AMPI, AMEXME, Canacintra, Canadevi, the Coordinating Council of Business Women, the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council, the Association of Suppliers of Quintana Roo and Puerto Morelos, and the Vice-Presidents of Security and the Real Estate Sector of Concaem.
