A police car with "POLICIA PROXIMIDAD SOCIAL" written on it, patrolling a city street at night with emergency lights visible in the background and street signs indicating directions to Boca Paila and Coba.

A pair of tourists were attacked in Tulum when they resisted a robbery attempt. The incident took place in the Centro district when a thief tried to steal a bag from one of the tourists' girlfriend. The man fought back, leading to both tourists being shot.

Despite the injuries, the couple managed to get to a hospital on their own. They reported the incident to the 911 emergency service, but despite multiple calls, no police patrol arrived at the scene.

They were initially transported in a private vehicle to the CostaMed hospital. Later, they were moved to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen.
