The city council of Solidaridad is set to leave a substantial public account for the next administration. The account is projected to total two billion, 862 million, 167 thousand, 856 pesos, with an income that is 3% higher than initially forecasted for 2024.
According to a document published in the Official Newspaper of the State of Quintana Roo, it is anticipated that Solidaridad will exceed its income budget for this year by more than three billion, 600 million pesos. This makes it one of the largest budgets in the country for a municipal government.
The city council of Solidaridad attributes this financial success to effective management of resource collection and management processes, which have strengthened municipal finances. The trend of exceeding projected income was first surpassed in August, with collections exceeding those projected according to the schedule.
The surplus collection in Solidaridad is primarily due to tax collection, rights, and products. The most significant contributors are the tax on real estate acquisition, payment for garbage collection rights, and metered parking charges for parking spaces in downtown Playa del Carmen.
The public account was approved in a council session on September 17 and published in the Official Newspaper of the State of Quintana Roo on the following Wednesday afternoon. The document also addresses the refinancing of Solidaridad's public debt.
The current city council has contracted a loan of up to 490 million pesos to lower the interest rate on the original loan maintained with Banorte, which dates back to 2014. This is one of the final legal actions led by the Solidaridad government, which will conclude its administration in the coming days.
