Adrián Fernández, a Spanish man who fell ill during his honeymoon and was hospitalized in Cancún, has awoken from his medically induced coma. His family is hopeful, yet cautious, as he begins to respond positively to treatment. However, he is still dealing with lung and breathing complications. The question of whether he can be repatriated to Spain, specifically to Ribera Hospital in Alzira where his wife works as a nurse, remains uncertain. The Spanish consulate in Mexico is providing assistance, but no details about his return have been confirmed.

Fernández's family is facing significant financial strain due to his medical expenses. To date, they have paid around 70,000 euros (1 million 268 thousand Mexican pesos), not including the costs of accommodation and relocation for family members. They are relying on donations and community support to help cover the escalating medical bills. The cost of healthcare in Mexico, both in public and private hospitals, is substantial. Despite being grateful for the care he has received, the financial burden is daunting for the family, adding to their distress.

Back in Alzira, the local community has rallied to support the family. Fundraising activities have been organized by the school of Fernández's nephew, and financial contributions have been steadily coming in. However, the enormity of the medical expenses far surpasses the amount raised. This situation highlights the emotional and financial challenges families face during overseas medical emergencies. While Fernández's awakening brings hope, the economic burden remains a significant obstacle in his recovery. The family remains thankful for the support they have received and continues to face each day with determination and optimism.
