Local government authorities have teamed up with the Ecology and Youth departments to educate students from the Colegio de Bachilleres about the importance of marine turtle conservation. The talk emphasized the crucial role these creatures play in the ecosystem and the need for their preservation, particularly on the municipality's coast where they nest.

The students learned that four of the seven species of marine turtles worldwide can be found on the coasts of Puerto Morelos. All of these species are legally protected due to their endangered status.

This educational initiative aims to instill in young people the importance of protecting and conserving marine turtles. It also encourages them to take practical steps towards preserving these creatures on the coasts of Puerto Morelos.
