The roads in Solidaridad are far from ideal. Over time, with each passing administration, the problem has only worsened, leading to an untenable situation. The poor quality of materials used has resulted in the formation of potholes.

The lack of transparency from previous municipal administrations and construction companies that developed housing complexes has led to issues with the communication routes in Playa del Carmen, according to Solidaridad authorities. Currently, there are 3,576 potholes recorded throughout the municipality. This issue has led to numerous complaints from citizens, but these have largely been ignored.

The problem has been exacerbated this year due to heavy rains caused by tropical storms and hurricanes. After the June 2 elections, the administration of former Mayor Roxana Lili abandoned their duties, despite still being in office. Consequently, despite the complaints, the issue was never addressed and was passed on to the next administration, allowing the already deteriorating roads to continue to degrade.

Past administrations, including those of Filiberto Martínez Méndez, Mauricio Góngora, Laura Beristain Navarrete and Roxana Lili, were found to be paving roads with layers of only one centimeter thick. According to construction standards, this is a clear violation, as the thickness should be between five to seven centimeters.

Additionally, the substandard work carried out by Aguakan and the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has contributed to the poor state of the roads. These companies often damage sidewalks and asphalt during their operations, leaving the roads in poor condition without carrying out necessary repairs.
