In Cancun's Superblock 223, locals experienced a scare on a recent Thursday afternoon. A suspicious object, bearing a striking resemblance to a fragmentation grenade, was discovered in a sports park adjacent to the Juan de la Barrera middle school. The object was reported to emergency services around 2:30 p.m. on January 6th, prompting a swift response from the Municipal Police.
Given the potential risk of an explosive device, officers promptly secured the area to carry out a thorough inspection of the object.
Upon closer examination, the police determined that the supposed grenade was, in fact, a grinder. This marijuana grinder was designed to mimic the appearance of an explosive. Once any danger was ruled out, the officers safely removed the item and transported it to their facilities.
The incident understandably caused concern among parents and local residents, as there were initial fears that the object could pose a threat to nearby middle school students. Thankfully, the authorities' quick response ensured that any real danger was swiftly ruled out.
Once it was confirmed that the object was not an explosive device, the officers vacated the area. The authorities have since urged the public to avoid causing unnecessary alarm and to promptly report any suspicious objects for proper investigation. The original information was provided by De Peso Quintana Roo.
