A Suzuki Jimny van was the target of a shooting in the early hours of Tuesday on the Tulum-Cobá state highway. The incident happened at kilometer 1, fortunately, no one was injured.
The shooting took place at midnight, prompting local residents to call the 911 emergency number. They reported hearing around eight gunshots near the Gardens Tulum hotel and requested immediate police intervention.
Municipal Police responded swiftly and discovered a gray Suzuki Jimny van with the license plate UUV-969-K. The vehicle had an estimated six bullet holes. Notably, no spent bullet casings were found at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and fired multiple shots at the van before fleeing. The nature of the attack suggests it was quick and well-coordinated, leaving no immediate evidence for authorities to collect.
Officers from the Ministerial Police of the Vice Prosecutor's Office of Tulum were dispatched to the scene to begin investigations. Their arrival marked the start of an official inquiry to determine the facts and motivations behind the attack.
Forensic experts also arrived at the crime scene to process evidence and search for any clues that could help solve the case.
