Puerto Morelos enjoyed a Saturday filled with flavors that delighted locals and visitors alike at the Third Edition of the Taco Festival, held in Parque Fundadores. Alongside indulging in delicious tacos, attendees explored handcrafted goods at the El Faro Artisan and Gastronomic Pavilion and enjoyed live music from local artists.
On behalf of Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the municipal secretary, José de Jesús Espinosa Payán, expressed gratitude to local taco vendors and artisans for making the event a growing success each year. He emphasized that the festival not only celebrates culinary traditions but also strengthens the local economy and benefits families in the community.

“Our mayor, Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, remains committed to supporting businesses by providing spaces that contribute to economic growth. Events like this help position Puerto Morelos as a thriving destination while improving the quality of life for local families,” he stated.
Festival organizer Doña Trinidad Juárez also thanked the local government for their continued support in promoting businesses through such events.
During a tour of the 80 artisan stalls, Elena Gutiérrez Briceño, Secretary of Economic Development and Regulatory Improvement, highlighted the importance of maintaining events that yield positive results for the local economy. She noted that the El Faro Artisan Pavilion has fostered a sense of identity among vendors, building trust with both national and international tourists. Handcrafted jewelry, embroidery, plush toys, wood carvings, and organic preserves were among the many products on display.
Raúl Guadarrama García, Secretary of Sustainable Tourism, emphasized that tacos—one of Mexico’s most beloved traditional dishes—play a key role in positioning Puerto Morelos as a top culinary destination. He praised the talent of local taquerías and chefs and acknowledged the strong collaboration between festival organizers, including Trinidad Juárez, and the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) Puerto Morelos.
This year’s festival featured 15 participating restaurants, including Taquería El Poblano, Taquería Irineo, Restaurante Las Coras, Doña Trynis, Maíz Maix, Tacos Cochi, Puerto Knna, La Birria de Puerto Morelos, and Takeiros, among others.
