Dzemul, Yucatán — A Tesla Cybertruck valued at over two million Mexican pesos became stuck in the sand at San Benito Beach in the municipality of Dzemul, Yucatán, sparking widespread attention after footage of the incident went viral on social media.
Stranded Luxury Vehicle Draws Crowd and Authorities
The incident was captured and shared by Instagram user @kabicp, showing the high-end electric vehicle immobilized in the beach’s soft sand. The video depicts the owner and bystanders attempting to free the Cybertruck before local authorities from the Secretary of Public Security (SSP) arrived to assist in recovering the vehicle.
The reason for the driver taking the Cybertruck onto the beach remains unclear. In Yucatán, driving vehicles directly onto beaches—particularly in protected areas—is generally prohibited.
Broader Context of Cybertruck Incidents
This incident follows other high-profile cases involving Tesla’s Cybertruck in Mexico, including a recent rollover accident in Guadalajara that left four injured. The vehicle’s unconventional design and performance in off-road conditions have drawn scrutiny.
No injuries or further complications were reported in the Yucatán incident. Authorities did not disclose whether the driver would face penalties for violating beach access regulations.
