The Mexican Caribbean Gastronomic Festival is a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of Quintana Roo. This event provides both local and international visitors with the opportunity to indulge in the region's unique cuisine, which is deeply rooted in its coastal and jungle landscapes. Organized by the Committee to Promote Gastronomy of Quintana Roo, the festival involves twelve destinations across the Mexican Caribbean and is a testament to the region's culinary prowess.

Southeastern Mexico is globally recognized for its natural beauty, architectural wonders, and vibrant cultural and recreational spaces. However, the region's gastronomy holds a special place in the hearts of visitors. The Mexican Caribbean offers a variety of delicacies that utilize the bountiful produce from both the sea and the land. From Tikin Xic fish and pipián to various versions of ceviche, enchiladas, panuchos, and cochinita pibil, the region's cuisine is a feast for the senses.

The fourth edition of the festival is set to take place on March 8 and 9, 2025, in the municipality of Bacalar. The festival was first launched in 2022 in Puerto Juárez to great acclaim, followed by successful events in Playa del Carmen in 2023 and Puerto Morelos in 2024. The festival aims to showcase not only the dishes from the eleven municipalities of the state but also the region's representative fruits, such as pitahaya and mango.

In addition to the culinary experiences, the festival also hosts various artistic activities and provides a platform for participants to sell their handmade products. The Gastronomic Festival has also incorporated other events that promote Quintana Roo, including wine tastings, a grill festival, and a seafood-focused event.

The state's gastronomy is further promoted through the project "With Flavor to the Mexican Caribbean", which aims to attract more tourists nationally. Andrés Aguilar Beceril, Undersecretary of Tourism in Quintana Roo, explained that they are working with the Committee to Promote Gastronomy to highlight the menus included in the Quintana Roo recipe book. The goal is to increase average spending in local restaurants and boost the sector with unique dishes.
