Uruguayan artist Natacha Ruth has expressed her gratitude to the Parks and Museums Foundation of Cozumel (FPMC) for providing a platform to showcase her creative work. The FPMC recently launched her art exhibition, "The Colors of the Soul", at an event attended by both artists and the general public.
The exhibition features ten pieces of abstract art, inviting viewers to explore a vibrant world of color and emotion. The narrative of the artwork goes beyond the literal, focusing instead on the power of ideas.
The FPMC's director, Alejandro Marchán Payán, stated that the institution's policy, under the guidance of governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, aims to foster art and community engagement with various artistic expressions. It also provides opportunities for artists of all nationalities to display their work on the island, aligning with the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo.
Ruth explained the personal inspiration behind her collection, saying, “These ten pieces represent a turbulent relationship between him and me… the bond of an aunt and a nephew who share both agreements and disagreements. Our connection transcends blood. He is my accomplice, my friend, and my source of inspiration. I love you infinitely, Agustín.”
Ruth is a textile designer and artist who has built her career by blending technique and emotion in each of her creations. With a distinguished career in design and art, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions and her works are part of private collections in Uruguay, Argentina, and Mexico. She splits her time between her home country and Playa del Carmen, where she continues to develop her art.
The exhibition's opening ceremony was attended by the director of the Island Museum, Isela Carrillo Cúpula, councilor Alejandro Queb Franco, and museographer Satoko Kitamura. Kitamura presented a recognition to Ruth on behalf of the FPMC's general director. The event serves to enrich Cozumel's cultural offerings and strengthen the community's connection with artistic expressions.
