Cancún, Mexico — The Excellence Collection, a joint venture between Medieval Times, Zafiro Hotels, and Viva Hotels, has inaugurated the Hotel Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres in Cancún. The new resort, featuring 470 rooms, represents a $220 million investment and marks the group’s sixth property in the Mexican Caribbean.
Expansion Plans and Economic Impact
Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, who led the inauguration ceremony alongside Grupo Excellence Collection CEO Antonio Montaner, announced further investments in the region. The group plans a $200 million development in Puerto Morelos, located between Cancún and Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya.
The event was attended by shareholders Bernat Pascal, Pedro Montaner, and Martín Santandreu, as well as Isla Mujeres Municipal President Atenea Gómez Ricalde and Pablo Casas Gómez, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion and Operations for Sedetur. Governor Lezama emphasized that the new resort will generate 3,000 jobs.

The Excellence Collection operates five-star, all-inclusive luxury hotels in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica under three distinct brands:
- Excellence Resorts: Adults-only properties in Cancún, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay.
- Beloved Hotels: All-inclusive resorts exclusively for couples in Cancún.
- Finest Resorts: All-inclusive accommodations for all ages in Cancún and Punta Cana.
