“Unveiling the Key to the Mexican Caribbean’s Future: Leadership Selection Tips from AHRM”

The President of the Association of Hotels of the Riviera Maya (AHRM), Toni Chaves, has stressed the importance of the upcoming federal and municipal elections in maintaining the Mexican Caribbean's status as a top tourist destination. The focus, he says, should be on enhancing current strategies for security, tourism promotion, and attracting investment. With the elections just over a month away, Chaves has highlighted the need for both citizens and businesses to carefully consider the plans put forward by the various candidates.

Chaves believes that the success of Mexico and Quintana Roo is not solely the responsibility of the authorities, but also of the society that elects them. He emphasizes the importance of participatory democracy, noting that as entrepreneurs, they are open to hearing proposals from different political ideologies. This was recently demonstrated in their discussions with candidates for senator and deputy positions in District 1.

Chaves points out that the Mexican Caribbean is currently facing stiff competition from other tourist destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America. To stay competitive, it needs to remain an attractive, safe destination that is open to new investments. These investments will help increase visitor numbers and economic income. "The Riviera Maya needs a president who understands tourism, facilitates the entry of visitors from other countries, and strengthens the promotion of the Mexico brand globally," he says.

Chaves also mentions that the hotel sector is examining the various platforms and political proposals of the federal and municipal candidates. They aim to select the best option that will contribute to continued economic development and address the various challenges facing the destination. The AHRM, as part of the Mexican Caribbean Hotel Council, has pledged to promote citizen participation. Along with thirty other private groups in the state, they have committed to providing their employees with the necessary facilities to exercise their democratic rights in the upcoming June 2nd elections.
